FIFA no longer wants to give only one manufacturer to license rights in the future.
Electronic Arts football game series will not bear the name FIFA from next year, because the license agreement with the same name International Football Association seems to be not renewable. This is not yet confirmed, EA has already secured the rights for a new name: EA SPORTS FC. FIFA, in turn, has now published a statement in which it does not respond to the negotiations with the publisher, but outlines its own future plans regarding video games and esports.
Accordingly, in the future, one wanted to set up broader and deviate from these areas to grant only one manufacturer to license rights, as has been the case for many years. FIFA is optimistic and enthusiastic about the future in the gaming as well as eSports for football and it is clear that this must be an area that is occupied by more than one party, which controls all rights, it says. Technology and mobile companies now actively fight for a shortcut with FIFA, their platforms and global tournaments.
Furthermore, the association says that with several industrial representatives, including developers, investors and analysts, in conversations to set up a long-term plan for the video game and esports sector as well as generally the area of interactive entertainment media. So it could be that in the future there will be several games of different manufacturers with official FIFA license. Whether EA will still be included will show.
